NEED A CAT SITTER?
BUT YOU LIVE SOMEWHERE
A LITTLE CONFLICTY?
WANNA TAKE YOUR CAT SITTING
TO THE NEXT LEVEL?

One lonely cat
is a tragedy...
A populations genocide is a statistic.
OUR FOUNDING STORY
Despite appearances, Cat Sitters Without Borders is not an international emergency cat-sitting agency. Although... that's sort of how it started.
Our accidental founder, Ruth James, has spent most of her adult life working in humanitarian conflict all over the world.
After an extended time in Gaza, Ruth agreed to a well-deserved break and her colleague offered her somewhere to stay in Lebanon. However, there was just one small favour:
"Would you mind feeding the cat
while I'm away?"
When Ruth told people she was off to cat sit in Beirut, people where shocked.
They couldn't believe she was cat sitting in a conflict and she couldn't understand the intrigue, curiosity and engagement.
It got her wondering, do people care more about one cat in Beirut than the children of Gaza?
"You're cat-sitting?... in Lebanon?"
"Tell me everything"
.. and thats how Cat Sitters Without Borders was born.
Come for the cats.
Stay for the humans.
Leave caring about both.

MEET OUR CATS IN CONFLICT

BUT WHATS THE POINT?
So why build a website that pretends to be a cat-sitting agency?
Because for some reason, "I'm looking after a cat in Lebanon" starts more conversations than "I've spent 15 years working in humanitarian crises."
If that's what gets people to stop scrolling, ask questions and discover the lives of people living through conflict, we'll happily lean into it.
We don't really know where this will go, but we like the idea of creating a safe corner of the internet where people can share their stories, maybe find a friend or a community without them disappearing into another saturated social feed, destined to be swiped past in seconds.
This isn't really about cat-sitting.
It's about curiosity.
It's about connection.
It's about creating a space where stories can be found long after the headlines have faded.
Come for the cats.
Stay for the humans.
Leave caring about both.
